Logo for Truman State University.Digital Architecture would like to give a warm welcome to Truman State University, the first institution from Missouri to join Digital Architecture. The acalog ACMS™ will be used to manage Truman State University's academic catalog.

We were pleased with what we have seen of Digital Architecture's product on universities' websites. Digital Architecture is a great group to work with and we look forward to doing business with them!

- Erika Woehlk, Academic Affairs

Founded in 1867, Truman State University has a long history of being recognized nationally for its innovative assessment program and commitment to providing a high-quality liberal arts and sciences education at an affordable price.

Truman has the distinction of being Missouri's only highly selective statewide public liberal arts and sciences university. All Truman students have the opportunity to perform undergraduate research, participate in study abroad and internship experiences, and experience small class sizes.

For the 10th year in a row, Truman State University has been recognized as the No. 1 Public University in the Midwest Region-Master's Category by U.S. News & World Report.  Truman also was ranked No. 8 overall in the Midwest region among both private and public institutions.

Registrar's Office Adopts New Database Management System

Logo for Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne.Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) has entered into a partnership with Digital Architecture that allows IPFW's Registrar's Office to better manage all the information contained in its bulletin of academic programs, course offerings, and university policies.

Registrar Patrick McLaughlin says the office was looking for a way to manage the content for the bulletin when Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Susan Hannah read about the implementation of an academic catalog management system at another university. Hannah asked McLaughlin to investigate Digital Architecture's acalog ACMS™ to see if it could be a solution for IPFW. McLaughlin and a committee reviewed the program, watched a demonstration, and concluded it was. Discussions with the company revealed IPFW's need to have consistent information shared throughout the university's website. The acalaog ACMS™ provides IPFW with one central database to maintain bulletin content, which will be shared with departmental websites. In addition, the program will help move the publishing of IPFW's two bulletins from their current every-other-year schedule, to an annual effort.

McLaughlin says the move to this information management program will benefit current and potential students, their advisors, and faculty. "Up to date information on academic programs and courses necessary for a student's degree will be available to them annually when changes are made. Sometimes in the past, changes were made after the bulletins were printed and there was no easy way to let everyone know. With the acalog ACMS™ system, we'll be able to keep everyone up to date annually," said McLaughlin. The new system will be implemented this August.

We are excited to be working with Digital Architecture to make our online catalog truly interactive. We were impressed with the features they can offer to meet the needs of our students, faculty and staff.

-Heidi Ross, Associate Vice President,

Friends University was founded in 1898 by the Society of Friends (better known as the Quakers). The University's main building had been built in the mid-1880s for another institution and at that time held more floor space under one roof than any other educational facility west of the Mississippi River. In the 1930s the University became independent of the Quakers and began operating as a non-denominational Christian university.

Throughout its history, Friends University has remained committed to its central core — the arts and sciences. A broad-based education, one that truly expands the horizons and frees the mind is our purpose for every student. It is also expressed in our commitment to teaching and to the personal growth of every Friends University student.

Friends University has continued to grow and develop throughout the years. From 53 students in 1898 to approximately 3,000 students today, Friends University is a strong, vital, independent university for Wichita and Kansas.

Digital Architecture is very pleased to announce Kansas State University has chosen the acalog ACMS™ to manage their academic undergraduate and graduate catalogs.

Kansas State University was founded Feb. 16, 1863, under provisions of the Morrill Act, which established land-grant colleges. That makes K-State one of the first land-grant colleges in the nation.

The 664-acre main campus is in northern Manhattan. Under an enactment of the 1991 Kansas Legislature, the Salina campus was established through a merger of the former Kansas College of Technology with the university. Additional university sites include 18,000 acres in the four branch locations of the Agricultural Experiment Station at Hays, Garden City, Colby and Parsons, and 8,600 acres in the Konza Prairie Biological Station operated by the Division of Biology.

With more than 23,000 students, who come from all 50 states and more than 90 countries, K-State has been called one of America's "best values" in public colleges: The Princeton Review has ranked K-State as No. 5, and Consumers Digest at No. 16.

Undergraduate colleges at K-State include Arts and Sciences; Engineering; Business Administration; Education; Agriculture; Human Ecology; Architecture, Planning, and Design; and K-State at Salina, which includes programs in aviation and technology. The university offers more than 250 undergraduate programs and options, and around 400 student organizations and more than 20 club sports. K-State is a member of the Big 12 Conference, a leading BCS conference in the nation.

The K-State Graduate School offers 65 master's degrees, 45 doctoral degrees and 22 graduate certificates in multiple disciplines across campus. K-State also is home to a noted College of Veterinary Medicine.

When it comes to academic success, K-State students have excelled nationally. K-State ranks first among state universities in the nation in its total of Rhodes, Marshall, Truman, Goldwater and Udall scholars since 1986.

K-State's research accomplishments have far-reaching effects. Most NASA space shuttle flights have carried K-State experiments aboard. Astronaut space gloves and the water-purifying system used on the space shuttles were developed at K-State. The university also is at the forefront of a national atomic physics research program that could mean nuclear power without nuclear waste. In addition, K-State is home to a national Center for Basic Cancer Research.

In addition, K-State hosts the prestigious Landon Lectures on Public Issues, honoring the late Kansas statesman Alfred M. Landon. Since 1966 the series has featured nearly 150 nationally and internationally prominent speakers. Past speakers include all presidents since Richard Nixon. Most recently, speakers have included President George W. Bush and former President Bill Clinton. World leaders also have been Landon Lecturers, including Mikhail Gorbachev, the former Soviet leader, and Lech Walesa, who led Poland's Solidarity movement.

The University of South Dakota logo. Digital Architecture is pleased to announce that The University of South Dakota has chosen acalog ACMS™ to manage both their undergraduate and graduate academic catalogs.

As the flagship liberal arts institution in South Dakota, The University of South Dakota (founded in 1862) is committed to offering students unique, extraordinary opportunities to discover their talents and achieve their dreams. In addition to providing its students with a nationally competitive undergraduate education, The U leads the region in professional and postgraduate studies as home to the state's only law and medical schools. Our young entrepreneurs learn within the state's only professionally accredited (AACSB) school of business, and its students' scores recently ranked in the top 5% of the national business exit exam.

Three of the six academic Centers of Excellence in South Dakota are located on USD's campus: Ambulatory Medical Student Education, the W.O. Farber Center for Civic Leadership and the Disaster Mental Health Institute. These centers provide students with opportunities to align their educational needs with professional organizations and allow them to have regional, national and international impact as they engage in service learning activities in real world situations and build vital professional networks within their field.

The U also features the National Music Museum, an icon on campus and an important research institution and attraction for visitors, which holds and displays more than 13,500 rare musical instruments. The National Music Museum recently achieved the distinction of becoming home to the Mahoney Music Collection, one of the most complete collections of educational and historic materials regarding stringed instruments.

More impressive than the vast array of educational programs at The U are the knowledgeable and dedicated personnel working to provide students with top notch instruction and service. The U's staff and faculty commit themselves to educational excellence and furnish students with an outstanding educational experience in the heart of the Midwest—and their hard work shows. USD Students have earned some of the most prestigious awards and scholarships available. These bright young minds have exemplified academic excellence by receiving many of the nation's most prestigious scholarships, with multiple students earning Fulbright, Truman, Udall and Goldwater Scholarships. In early 2007, USA TODAY named one of our students to its All-USA College Academic First Team. More than 600 students across the nation submitted applications, but only 20 students earned this prestigious honor. The University of South Dakota is also a Truman Honor Institution for sustained success in student recipients of Harry S. Truman Scholarships.

The extraordinary achievements in the lives of USD students don't end on graduation day. Our graduates carry the knowledge and experience that provide a competitive edge throughout the rest of their careers. USD students go on to become positive, creative and inspirational figures in their companies and communities. USD has educated scholars and influential personalities who have forever shaped the cultural zeitgeist including former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw, The Insider host Pat O'Brien, 10 South Dakota governors, political commentator and public television anchor Ken Bode, 13 Rhodes Scholars, all sitting justices of the South Dakota Supreme Court, author Pete Dexter and USA Today founder Allen Neuharth.

Indiana State University logo.Indiana State University has joined the rapidly growing list of higher education institutions to select the acalog ACMS™ for academic catalog management, and to power the institutions’ e-catalogs.

John Beacon, Vice President for Enrollment Management, Marketing, and Communications at ISU, was a strong advocate for the acalog ACMS™ product. “It’s critical that we provide effective and integrated electronic services to our campus community,” said Beacon. “The acalog system provides an electronic catalog with important tools for our students to use, while the Web-based administrative component of the product provides powerful ways in which to manage and make annual curriculum and policy changes.”

Located in Terre Haute, Indiana State University was founded in 1865 as a Normal School, but has grown into a comprehensive research university with five colleges. While teacher preparation remains an important part of the University's mission, ISU graduates also lead the way in areas such as criminology, business, finance, aerospace technology, nursing, and communications.

Amarillo College logo. After a detailed RFP process Amarillo College has chosen acalog ACMS™ as their academic catalog management tool. Digital Architecture is very excited to have Amarillo College as a client.

Funding for this project was provided by a Title V Strengthening Hispanic-Serving Institutions Grant through the U.S. Department of Education.

On July 16, 1929, Amarillo College became the first junior college district in the state to be organized independent of a school district. The first classes were held in September 1929. The College moved to its present location with the construction of its first permanent building in 1937.

After serving primarily as a junior college offering arts and sciences courses, the curriculum was expanded in 1942 to include vocational courses.

In 1958, Amarillo College was granted its own board of regents independent of the trusteeship of the Amarillo Independent School District. The 1960s brought expansion in College facilities and programs. A number of allied health and occupational-technical programs were added to the curriculum along with an extensive array of continuing education and community service courses.

In 1995, state legislation transferred Texas State Technical College - Amarillo to AC. Today, the East Campus (formerly Amarillo Technical Center) continues a 25-year history of meeting the region's technical education needs.

The history of New Mexico Military Institute is inextricably linked to the history and fortunes of New Mexico and our Nation. Since 1891, this unique college preparatory four-year high school and two-year university parallel junior college has been the breeding ground for many talented young men and women desiring to take on the distinct challenge of achieving excellence – in academics, in leadership, and in physical development – that prepared them for the next step in their continuing education. All NMMI graduates become leaders of character at local, state, and national levels across the nation.  NMMI also enjoys a long history of appointing its graduates to the nation’s Service academies, as well as important appointments in our nation’s illustrious military forces.

As an institution of higher and secondary education, NMMI develops leaders by enabling individual development through challenging academic preparation in a structured learning environment that affords extensive opportunities for leadership and character development. In support of its mission, the Institute's treatment of all cadets places key value on trust, student knowledge, integrity, service and responsibility all within the framework of the NMMI credo – "Duty, Honor, Achievement."

NMMI grants High School diplomas, Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees, in 22 concentrations. Certificates of Completion to those young men and women who are pursuing commissions in the U.S. Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Merchant Marines through NMMI’s Service Academy Preparatory Program – the largest program in the nation.  Leadership training is provided to all cadets at the college level through the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) program, and at the high school level through the Junior ROTC program. The ROTC Program offers college cadets the opportunity to receive a commission in the U.S. Army through the ROTC 2-Year Early Commissioning Program.

In addition to its educational and leadership philosophy with a college preparatory focus, the Institute's emphasis on the qualities of honor, integrity, character, responsibility and accountability in every cadet contributes to its uniqueness as a military school and as a New Mexico State-educational institution.

We welcome all who desire to meet the challenge of the NMMI experience. NMMI is unique – a shimmering jewel in the crown of education – in New Mexico and across the nation.
